ABOUT ME
Two brothers who have been making music in a variety of different bands for over ten years now are Nory and Davy Robb and their most successful collaboration to date is a psychedelic electro outfit called Celestial Souls. They have already plied their trade in rock bands as well as writing acoustic, folk and blues songs but the duo have always envisioned a style of music that combines modern electronic beats and sounds with live instruments, improvisation and vocals.
Finally it seems like Celestial souls have arrived at a point where everything musically seems to be coming together for them. People are starting to take notice of their early demo tracks which have been picked up by a number of digital radio stations and a record contract with Expat records has just been signed. The pair have had previous offers of management and licensing deals but decided to pass due to unfavourable contracts.
When asked about the signing to Expat records they said ‘It is a big step for any band to sign onto a label but with a personal approach and business ethic Expat have gained our trust and respect as the people we want to help promote and forward our career.’
Some of the digital stations to endorse Celestial Souls are listed below.
BBC 6 radio introducing aired Arcadia with a positive response from fans and a Belgian radio station called Radio Universe previously rated this track as one of the top ten European unsigned ambient tracks. This track has also been used as a sound bed for radio station Three from Leith.
Another digital radio station aiiradio.net, this time based in America who were playing progressive rock music enjoyed the track Lost in Time so much the D.J was happy to include it in his play list. No mean feat for an ambient band to cross genre into the world of prog rock!
An airplay closer to home happened when Glasgow station Radio Caley played On the Run showing that the band has a truly universal appeal home and abroad!
Some of the tracks have also been reviewed by Dutch music enthusiast and lecturer on Mr Nixon’s music class edition 54 who nicely quotes ‘imagine healing music that inspires you to dance’ and 'I doubt that Celestial Souls will turn out to be as angelic as their name would have us believe but their music is heavenly’
Celestial Souls are very excited to be signing up with Expat records and appreciate the opportunity to expand their musical horizons and open doors to a much wider geographical audience through the various platforms available within the company’s contacts and outlets.
The first E.P released in March 2011 will be a sample taster of what the boys have in store. The duo is already close to finishing another release that should be landing very soon. With a hoard of more futuristic and diverse sounds being brewed up for general aural pleasure you should expect exciting things from Celestial Souls in the coming months.
