RELUCTANT PARTICIPANT is an instrumental project created by Edinburgh artist and musician H. C. Small .

The first release on Expat Records in December 2010 was a 4 track EP entitled GRID SYSTEM (EX0008)  . The four tracks on the EP were -

Grid System / Extrointroverted / St. Cloud / Endgame

Melodic guitar lines and drum programs weave together to form tense rhythmic atmospheres . This is highly individual music and GRID SYSTEM was the first in a series of EPs to be released over 2011 .

The first of these EPs is the KILL DEVIL HILLS (EX0021)  4 track EP which is out in late March 2011 . The track listing is -

This release features punchier , guitar-heavy tracks as well as some downtempo dub . The title track was featured in a Best Of MySpace Podcast (#89) in 2010 compiled by the NME DJ Gill Mills .

RELUCTANT PARTICIPANT is a place where melodic soundscapes are underpinned by trance-like drum programs . This is monumental music from the Northern hemisphere .
